Oh Oh Leak from Tach Cable

so I seem to have developed a leak from the tach cable . . . bolt is either stripped or broken, I imagine, but don't want to pull it out just incase I can't get it back in.
actually went to a dealership to get a replacement bolt and they had no idea of size etc.
anyone? Bueller?
oh, and Friday I may pick up a new-to-me bike if the stars align . . .
