A few other sites that use this software are wanting different ways of having people sign in.  Some want to show only part of their site until you register.

They change the code, they upgrade,
trying to satisfy one site, sometimes it goes out and upgrades other sites as well.
And sometimes it doesn’t work for all.

Might be it, a form of collateral damage in a way.
