newbie turn signal issues

Hi - I just bought a 76 cb750k6 and swapped out the turn signals for the ones that carpy sells at cb750cafe.com they look great, and after having to modify some bolts, etc, I've got them to turn on when (and only when) the directional switch is on. But they don't blink.

I tried buying and installing a new "winker" but that didn't help. Neither did the new battery (which I needed and installed anyway.)

I've looked at the grounds, and they seem fine. (Since the lights light when the switch is on, that seems to indicate that the circuit is working.)

I've got some conflicting info about wattage of the bulbs - the new ones are 10w each, the previous ones were 23w each i think. I've looked for but haven't found any 20w bulbs that will fit the new fixtures...

Any suggestions?
