The calipers you should be able to use should run from 77 - 82, at least 80. The later calipers are 2 piston if I remember correctly and so will provide more stopping power. Make sure you couple them with braided brake lines.
You WILL need to use F calipers.
As for the splitter, you can do that or you can get a larger banjo bolt.
the f calipers are mounted towards the bottom and BEHIND the fork.
