My start button doesnt work

I bought this 81 cb750f locally for 200 bucks and im trying to get it on the road. It starts up and stays running if i bypass the solenoid and jump the starter. however the start button doesnt work?

Are there any wires that could not be hooked (or hooked up wrong) up to make this happen or do i just need a new solenoid? Thanks in advance for the help.
