I'm a new rider , and know little. I am trying to figure out where the air gets into my gas tank. What the part is called and where it is located. I had some issues with my bike today and wasn't able to resolve them before i had to leave it.
The issue was that as I was accelerating my power would drop. until it finally stalled out. Well first thing i did before it stalled was tried the reserve tank, no change. i was pretty sure i had gas. when i stopped i checked the tank and there was gas. i tried turning it over it worked and i finished my trip to work. i ws only 2 blocks from work when i had the problem.
At the end of the day i went to fire the bike up and it started but would not keep running. i show the same problem as i had before. This time i did not open the tank and try again. I had to leave hurriedly so i caught a ride with someone and went about with what i had to take care of.

Afterward i spoke with my mechanic and he and i discussed the issue and we came to the conclusion that the problem might be with a clog in the intake to the gas tank.

any clues?
