1972 Honda CB750 Clutch Problems

I finally got the front and back brakes good to go and got it growling like a beast so I decided to take it out for a spin. It was able to shift into first and take off and it rode a little weird, It felt like it was having a hard time shifting into second and then it wouldnt shift into any gear but second until I powered it off. It then shifted into first and neutral with no problem. I then tried to start out again and it felt like it shifted into first but when I released the clutch nothing happened, it didn't even stall out. I am not even sure where to start on this.
