Something like this is hard to diagnose. First, though, make sure the clutch cable is adjusted properly to where it is disengaging properly. It may be possible that if the cable is old, it could have stretched and not be pulling right. So check that. It is the easiest place to start.
After that, you will want to download the manual and we can go from there.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
