throttle problems

CptStinkyBoots
lately my bike has been idleing pretty high and it seems to randomly dump a crap ton of gas into the chambers because the rpms jump up high(but this is rare), i really havent messed with the idle screw or anything. i have however messed with the throttle on the handle bars trying to get it to not stick with the new bars. and when i try to accelerate quickly the bike dies on me i have to turn the throttle really slow until i see the rpms move and then i can dump the throttle no problem.

any tips on how i can fix this problem?

It sounds like, you have a vacuum leak.

It looks like your bike is a dohc? I have a v45 magna and I have been learning about these carbs. When I first assembled them, the butterfly valves control your throttle, if those get out of whack your idle can shoot up and stay up. So you may want to check those as well but start off with spraying wd-40 around the intake boots and see if things change.

You can spray anything, really. It just has to be flammable. If the engine suddenly increases revs, then you found your leak.

I like brake clean, personally. Good luck finding it!
