You can use just about every part. They did change the frame, tank, and seat, but everything else will go your bike.

Not quite everything. As tools said, frame, tank, and seat but also the engine. The 78 engine is a bit different on the head. You shouldn't use the 78 head with the 74 jugs. I will check on that more to expand on this.

The 1978 was the last year of the SOHC CB750.
The engine had most of the changes, about 21 in all.

More cooling fins on the engine.
Clutch basket was improved.
Cylinder head studs were larger.
Cam chain tower was wider.
The cylinder head cover was vented differently
and matched the wider cam chain tower.
The valves were larger.
The engine cases were thicker around the countershaft sprocket .
New carbs w/accelerator pump.
New shorter intake rubbers.
New final drive shaft.
sprocket w/center bolt.
New final drive.
New pistons  compression ratio 9.2/1.
New transmission: 4th gear 1.133 i/o 1.087. Final drive
gear 50 teeth i/o 56 (as F1), primary drive 1.985 i/o 1.708
Valve keepers were different.
New valve guides.
New cam carriers.

The swing arm of the 1978 was longer than all of the other models.
I believe it (swing arm) will interchange.

The gas tank on the 1978 is about 1.5 inches longer.

I found a bit more and it is the f2/3 that should be kept as 1 unit generally. Though I still wouldn't mix early engines with later engines myself. I will post what I found later, when I got more time.
