wheel bearings

I'm trying to remove some 37 year-old bearings from both wheels...any way to drive them out?

If you have a clear view on the inside, you might be able to use a small punch and knock them out that way. If you have all the grease cleaned out, careful use of direct heat might help too. I dont think a torch would be good but a heat gun should be ok. Just dont get too hot or the hubs could warp.

The bearings are pretty tight against the spacer, can't seem to get a drift in there. Tried a heat gun, but I think there is dissimilar metal corrosion holding them tight. Can I use a bearing puller? I don't understand how it would grab the bearing...who designed this anyway???

If you can get a puller in there, I don't see why you couldn't use  it. If the puller uses leverage on the hub, a thin piece of wood might be a good idea.

The spacer is held centered beyween the bearings by the axle. With the axle removed the spacer is floating between the bearings. There is room inside the hub to push the spacer to the side, like get in there with a punch and pry it out of the way, you should then be able to drive the bearing aut.
There is an exloded view of the hub in the manual.
