will these pipes work on my cb750?

meezy
This post was updated on .
I found this on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/390847216965?item=390847216965&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr

and I really like them a lot more than the turn-out pipes i have on mine... but I don't know if they will fit. here is a photo of my bike for reference:

http://mightytext.net/zTr8u1

Mine is a 1972. These are listed as fitting a '77. Any opinions? And what about the price? exorbitant?

Thanks guys.

You can buy entire aftermarket exhaust systems for that price. But, the style of exhaust you're talking about is not something you see anymore.

Message the seller and ask him for some measurements. Inlet I.d. and distance from the front to mounting tab. Should give you a close idea.

But since these are not simple slip ons, chances are, you'll need the original style head pipes MAC was making to put these on.

Thank you for your excellent answer. I'll stay away from those. Do you have any recommendations for something similar?

The pipe diameter is larger on the 77-78. However you could change yours to the larger 77-78 pipes, and use those mufflers. You would need to remove the exhaust spigots from your head, and the 77-78 pipes will go right on.

Although these are a little ratty, I do like them -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/310775805471?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

- and i was thinking maybe I could clean them up and finish them with exhaust wrap to cover the holes.

Thoughts?

thanks for the link - but i gotta say... not really into any of those. i'm looking for something straight (and not angled) and not too fancy.

this would be ideal, even though i realize it's british:

I think those are the pipes that cross over one another in front of the engine. It's a cool look, not sure about filter access, though. And yes, overpriced IMO.

Are you wanting to stay with a 4-2? 4-1's are super easy to find. Usually under $300 shipped for new, complete systems.

I like the 4-1 cannisters. And you seem to be right - they are the most easily found, inexpensive answer. I guess part of my hesitation is that I feel kinda wasteful buying headers since I think mine have lots of life left in them... but this seems to be the most sensible way to go...

You can cut those pipes right before the bend, and have them be straight, just like the pictures you posted.
