1 and 4 wont fire??

wynnbricky
I could use some more brain here. 1 n 4 wont fire on my cb750 k3. I first suspected the coil and replaced it. ---didnt help----  new plugs and i rebuilt all the carbs- ive set the timing- the valve- the cam chain tentioner-- changed the coils?? now i have not done a compression check because i dont have the tool. though i know that the compression and the valves could be a problem with a cyl., but I first need tosee the plug fire. could the culprit be in the points and or the condencer? i hooked a small light with an alligator clip to the points and timed it that way, and the points open on the 1 n 4 side and light, but no fire to the plug wires.   obviousy i had new wires on the replacment coil as well--- no fire????????????????help????????????????please???????????

1 and 4 as you seem to know run off the same coil. AS such, they also run off the same point and condenser.
I would check the point and make sure the contacts are not badly pitted and are flat. The condenser should not prevent it from firing but you can move the condenser from #2 to #1 and see what happens.
It sounds to me like a wire might have broke between the point and the coil.

thanks for the help
im a new boy on the forum . i will go out and replace the points this morning. I mentioned that the points open and light my clamp on timing light, so that must mean that the wire is good from the coil???????  .I need to look up the point gap setting- i dont have a manual.  thanks again Robbin
