Hi, I just did the head gasket on my 1978 750 F ,and I had to take the engine out of the frame,in order to do the head work,you can't get the head off,because you can't clear the studs coming out of the block.because you have to slide the head up,and you don't have the clearence,the backbone of the frame is to close,I also have a 1976 CB750, which is the same case,If and when you pull your engine,make sure you have a floor jack and a friend to help you,the engine weighs about 170 lbs.and also once you get the valve cover off,align your timing marks according to what your manual tells you ,before you remove the cam you will have to do this because, it will have a endless chain {No Link}.remove all your rocker arms,and shafts,and place them in order you took them off,you want them to go back on the same place.I recommend that you get a manual from clymer,unless you have one already,take your time and double check everything when you put it back together.It was the first time I ever did the head on a 750 ,I took my time, and now the bike runs great,Best of luck Scott.
