1978 Honda CB 750K rejetting the carbs

78cb750-2
I have a 1978 Honda CB 750K and would like to loose the airbox and put pods in its place. How difficult will it be to "rejet the carbs" and how much more gas will the bike consume afterward? Also does anyone have a link to a site where I can get a rejetting kit?

if the rejet i done right your economy should not diminish much unless you ride it topped out alot. Under normal operation there should only be a slight drop if any. Good luck

I have an 81 CB750K that doesn't have the stock airbox and i'm having a bear of a time getting it jetted.
Before you go out and spend your money on  a rejetting kit take the airbox out and ride it,if it falls flat on its ass at around 6000 rpm put the stock airbox back in it and leave it alone, besides the K model was the tourer not the screamer.

It should be noted that i am an old fogy and my advise proves it.lol

Its been my expirience that when you rejet something like this you are trying to accomplish something the wrong way.  First off why do you want to rejet?  If it is for more horse power, you might concider a bigger engine bike.  Good Ol hister Honda was a very smart man.  He hired many very smart Nipponese enginers to come up with the best jet sizes and and settings for his bikes.  Think about it.

Factory jetting is nominal, and for factory equipped stuff.  Change things around and it needs altered.  IMO, they all need altered to be perfect for your environment(air desnsity)....For this bike, I don't care, just ride with factory stuff on it.  If I was serious, the first thing I'd do is swap the carbs out for something else.

The key there is in fact the needle...Were those from a K&N jet kit?  Wish you could just buy the friggin needle or if someone has cross referenced the part number to a std Keihin number???
