1978 SOHC & 1978 DOHC

Hi All

Got a question.

My newly accuried 1978 CB 750 has a manufacture date of 5/1978 .

As you may remember it has 1537 miles on the clocks and is all original.

The top of the head on the engine has been cast with  DOHC.

My question is,
From everything I have read so far, the DOHC was not introducted until
1979.  What's up  with my 750 ????

p.s.  I don't think my engine has been switched out for a newer one.

What is the bike titled as?

Most likely it's a 1979, but was simply manufactured in 1978.

If your VIN starts with "RC " it is an original DOHC bike.

If your VIN starts with "CB" it is an original SOHC bike.

The engine value cover is inscribed with  OHC 750  NOT  DOHC
