1979 Honda CB750

John117
Hey guys first time posting. I've been looking for answers to questions here and there but I'm at a loss now.
I bought this 1979 CB750 from a Harley dealer in New Mexico against my better judgment and had it shipped to me. The salesmen said a kid owned it and traded it in. He stated it needed some carb work and I noticed in the pictures it had pods on it so I thought maybe he just didn't know how to sync them. I've dug into it and the wiring is a mess and the compression is as follows 130 90 60 135.
Where should I go from here?

Did you do a "wet" compression test. That would narrow down the problem between the rings, valves, or both being bad. You could also put some Marvel Mystery oil, or Seafoam in the cylinders to see if it will loosen any stuck rings, or valves.

I did read about doing them "wet" I put a spoonful of oil in each cylinder. I'll have to try the sea foam to see if that helps

Junk the pods, get an airbox.
It's only illegal if you get caught.

If at first you don't succeed, use more lighter fluid

True I am working on getting an air box, but will it help with the cylinder pressure? Also how do I sea foam it if it doesn't run?

It will not do anything about the compression, but it will run a LOT better with it once you get it running. Did you take another compression reading after you put the oil in the cylinders? For the Seafoam, just pour it in the spark plug holes, and let it sit on the pistons for a day or two. You can also pour it in the intake and exhaust ports.

I put he oil in each and turns it over a few times and then ran the compression test. I will try the sea foam today.
