1980 CB750 Custom. Looking to change the seat

This post was updated on .
Hi there. I purchased 1980 750 Custom in a prestine condition from the original owner. The only thing that I'd like to do to this bike is to change the seat from "cruiser" looking to a bit more sportier, "straight" one that prior CB models used to feature. Is there a way to do so without making any alterations to the body of the bike? Someone told me that 750C's seat cannot be simply swapped by other CB models' seat. Any thoughts and/or recommendations? Thank you all in advance.

Just take your seat to a reputable upholstery shop, and they can reform, and recover it to any shape you want.

Hey,

If you ever get around to doing this, could you upload some pictures? I'm really curious to know this too. The straight seats look more classic in my opinion. The modern classic line from triumph has the same general idea. I think it looks great

Thanks!

Very nice looking ride you have there!  Plus one on what Tools said, from what I understand that year CB has the seat hump in the back so you would never be able to put a straight seat on there without doing some frame modifications, I could be wrong but I know that my 81 has that hump there.  Have the seat reshaped as suggested, it might be a little thinner in the back for the passenger but it would give you that straight line you are looking for.  As always pics if you get it done are a must!

my 80K had a straight seat; it ripped and a friend has a shop and recovered it. re-formed it too to one with a hump, I'd rather the straight, for comfort.

I had my '80 seat re-shaped and upholstered but you would need some more work to change the bottom profile to look like the older models.
