1980 F carb synch---maybe pod filters?

Waylon-2
Howdy--first time ask-er, long-time reader.

I've got a 1980 cb750F named Waylon. It's my first bike. (My toyota pickup's named Willie.) I've rebuilt the carbs and turned them out 1 3/4 but she only idles on 3 pistons and lags and jumps when cruising at low speed. When you lay it down she scoots, but I'm pretty sure I still need to synch my carbs.

I've seen the homemade rig with the hoses tacked to a board and know that that's what I wanna do. Problem is, I don't know where to plug them in. There are two male nipples on the carbs which my buddy and I have come to refer to as the "mystery hoses." One has a cap on it and the other has a length of tube which I plugged with a screw. It idles better with the screw.

Sooo...question one--what the hell are these mystery hoses?
Question two--where to I plug in hoses for synching?

And one more--does anyone know where I can find a list of cone/pod air filters matched with the needles I need for my 1980 cb750F? Not that I feel the need for more umph, necesarilly, but I'm just tired of cussing the carbs back and forth in front of that big, stupid airbox.

many thanks for all yer help!
and happy trails,
paul

<When you lay it down she scoots> I don't quite know what that means.

Just above where the rubber carb connectors meet the cylinder head you'll see a slotted screw. One for each cylinder, remove those screws and replace them with nipples to attach those hoses to. You can find the nipples on the internet. Try Bike bandit.com or places like it. or you can search this forum. There has been a lot of discussion on this subject.

They will sell the K&N stage III jet kit too, which comes with the needles that will allow your pods to work.  Once you get them right, you won't be taking them out all the time.

there you go. 1/4" dia. tubing you need the adapter that thread into the intake manifold. z1enterprises has then for a few bucks.

use atf fluid. cause if you miss adjust and it gets sucked into the motor it will not harm it.

word of advise... turn very slow and as minut as you can
