1980 cb750 f

Scott Watson
My honda has some electrical issues. I have been told that it is an issue with the rotor and stator and that it is a common problem with this year bike. The mechanic wants about 500 dollars to fix it. I only paid 1000 three years ago. I just want to get rid of it. Does anybody have any suggestions. Sell or fix?? I can be E-mailed at Scowat@Aol.com. Thanks

I would fix it. The rotor, and stator are not hard to replace. You can download the manual from the manual section here. Also you can find the parts on e-bay, or do a search for honda parts. There are several good sources. I often get parts from tasclassicmotorsports.com

I've had the same issue with my 1980 f. I bought the bike new, and have kept it 30 years perfect ever since.  While the electrical issue is common with the bike, once fixed it is preventable.  The rotor / stator system does not like to have "low battery voltage" prior to starting.  It will overregulate on a weak battery and burn the windings on the stator or short the rotor.  Keep a battery tender on your bike if its not ridden or garaged for any length of time.  That's the after fix.
