I am helping a friend fix a 1981 CB750C, DOHC engine, the problem is that the top cam chain came off the front gear; crushing a metal part that I think must ether be an oil cover or a guide cover.
What I would like to know,
1. Would the pistons hit the valves causing a serious problem or are we ok? Remember the back CAM was not turning.
2. Where are the timing marks located on the CAMs?
3. Can I just loosen the back CAM and reattach the chain?
4. What would cause this chain to come off in the first place?
5. What is the metal part that was crushed?
6. Does anyone have parts to help?
Thanks
