1981 DOHC CB750k carb - HELP!

Mick26
Hi all,

I've just bought the above bike, it's my first bike. Took the carbs off to clean them and the mixture screw in carb no.2 was stuck fast - tried everything, couldn't get it out. Long story short, need a replacement number 2 carb (VB52) or a full set.

This bike is a U.S import (i'm in the UK) and I've got the Haynes manual for it, which lists the standard Keihin carbs as being VB42A, at 30mm diameter. However, we're thinking that at some point in the last 28 years of its life someone has put a new set on, as the set that came with my bike are 34mm diameter and are marked VB52A.

Can anyone help me out with this predicament? Any help is appreciated!

Incidentally, we looked at using some carbs off a Kawasaki today with the same diameter choke, but couldn't readily transfer as the bracket wouldn't fit, and in any case we think they would need re-jetting. So we're thinking that Keihin carbs are the way forward.

Thanks guys, I'm shit up at the minute, any help is appreciated. Just bought this bike, haven't even been able to ride it yet and really want to make it work. If anyone has a spare full bank of carbs or know of any useful bike breakers or resources where I'd be likely to find one, I'd be overjoyed.

Thanks,

Michael

Thanks mate, I'm doing regular searches of ebay.com now. My UK supplier says their line of carbs has been discontinued, so it's second hand all the way.
