1981 HONDA CB750C

STEVE
Hello.  Just recently bought a 1981 Honda CB750C.  Motor fires when I took the carb off and sprayed a lil bit of starter fluid to the valves.  Getting ready to break carbs down to clean them.  Well,  I am an Idiot and shot a bit of compressed air into the #1 carb drain hole and now I have a shiny steel ball that shot out from somewhere.  Can anyone diagnose which ball this was AND WHERE DOES IT GO? since I shot the air in the #1 carb drain hole?  Thanks Much

Well I don't know the part you speak of but you can download the shop manual here and it might show it to you. Bikebandit.com also has parts diagrams that can be looked at.

hmmm?  neither one of those are showing me any steel ball.  from what i have read from TOOLS previous posts there are two of these.  just trying to figure out which one would have blown out of the carb from blowing air into the drain valve on carb body #1

I do not know of anything like that that could blow out. Might have to get a hold of seestheday. He is the CV carb expert here.

LOL at me being an expert at anything on this forum, but thanks for the accolades Tools.

I did recently rebuild my 1981 cb750K carbs, and I can't remember any steel balls that would shoot out just from spraying air.  I do know that there are tiny bearings that are a part of the accelerator pump which is attached to carb #2, but compressed air should not be able to shoot it out.  It's worth looking at though, you never know what your bikes PO did.

Check Lucky 1's post about the accelerator pump on this thread for more details: http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/DOHC-carb-cleaning-procedure-td867809.html
