Just a friendly suggestion...

Your used oil, way up near the top, appears coal black.  I would suggest SeaFoam'ing the engine/transmission, to remove varnish, carbon deposits, and other sludge.  It only needs to be done once.  Follow the directions on the can, add the specified amount to the engine, run it long enough to warm the oil to operating temperature (180 F, minimum -- five minutes on the center stand, or a short, fun little ride...), then check to see if your oil has turned coal black.  It very likely will, in that short time, as this stuff works fast.  Then change the oil and filter, to remove decades of sludge.

If you do the center stand warm-up, be sure to let it idle while shifting through the gears (let the clutch out, to engage the gears), to thoroughly flush the transmission.  This treatment won't harm the engine, clutch, or the transmission, and it likely won't be needed again, with today's oils, and proper change intervals.  Cheers!

Glad to hear you are getting it's running issues sorted out. Have had a chance to mount your new Shinkos yet? Don't remember now if you said which ones they are, I have the 712's on my Zookie and was so impressed I bought them for the CB as well. I think you will like them.

Piute needs them adventure tires with the roads he drives … Stay safe bud take it easy on them snow drifts LOL

Thanks for the advice sgtslag. That’s a good idea; I really should do that. I have heard people on here talk about seafoaming their motor, and I know of it being a treatment for motorcycles and boats, I believe. The oil was really black when I changed it, and it was really viscous too. I started running something thinner with the 10w30. To tell you the truth I liked the way the transmission felt when I was running Texaco Havoline, since changing to Castrol 4T motorcycle oil, it feels almost too smooth of a shift, I guess I liked the transmission knowing it was shifting gears, just firm. I’m still too scared to change it too anything other than specific motorcycle rated oils though. LOL, but the treatment I will do in the near future, along with a valve clearance I have been putting off until it was running right. Soon I’ll have nothing to do…   luckyme

Hoosier Daddy they are actually the Shinko Tour Master 230’s. I haven’t been able to mount them as of yet. Working two jobs here soon is going to take up my days, but I need to make time to mount the new rubber. I will let you know how these feel. I have heard good things about them on the motorcycle-superstore web site. They were a great prices; paying $125.98 USD a pair shipped. Thanks for the view of my progress; ya’ll gotta keep me in line sometimes if I make blunders. Your bike looks awesome; I can’t wait to see her with the tins and more.

What site is your zookie on, or other finished builds? I have run through most of the builds on here and CB750c.

DoTheTon or theGSResources is where the Zooks build thread lives, but I was hosting all the pics on "webshots" and it went belly-up so now all my pictures are the "Red X"...
Here is the Readers Digest version.
