500+ km's of riding this weekend

seestheday
So I did a fair amount of riding this weekend.  Had a blast, but felt that I'm pretty bunched up with my feet in the stock position and the drag bars I have on the bike.

I have superbike bars on order to get rid of my controls hitting my tank, but even with them I'll still feel cramped.

While I was cruising on the highway I decided to put my feet on the passenger pegs to see if it felt better.

Oh, it was like night and day.  Felt soooooo much better.

So, now I'm in the market for rearsets for my K because I want to ride like that all the time.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Hmm... after reading a little I might need to mount a plate in order to get these to work.

I was assuming that I could just mount them off the passenger pegs, but that might not work.

This might just be my first time doing fabrication work....

I'm totally with you on that sees. I run super bike bars myself, and I feel a little bunched up too. I want to do rearsets as well, and since I am on an'82k, we are in the same position. As much as I want to fabricate brackets,I am also in the market for a new house .My rearsets will have to wait, so I am liking forward to seeing what you do (you get to be the Guinea pig . Goodluck on this project, take loss of pics!!

Haha, thanks - I've put over 1,000 km's on it in total.

I think I hear some cam chain noise so I need to do the adjustment again, but other than that she is running strong.

Pulls like stink up to the ton.  I'm sure she'd go faster but that's where I decided to lay off.  I'm also not cool with losing my license and bike, so this was of course on a closed track.

Now it is just the cosmetic and little things.  Rearsets, better controls, the right bars, indicators, etc.

I got a question for you see's. What are your RPM's at when you hit 150 K? I haven't brought Ceru up there yet, but it strikes me that she would be revving awful high at that point.

Not excessively high.  Probably around 8K?  I am not afraid to redline the engine, so I was hitting the redline while I was accelerating up and going through the gears.

These engines love to rev.
