'72 CB750 SOHC electrical issues

Jonnyferraro
Hey all, new member here looking for some help.  I'll try to be as specific as possible with this electrical issue I'm having.

I took my bike into a shop and got some new signals put on, fixed some brake light problems, cleaned up wires etc. Didn't have a problem before the work was done.  I've had her back for about 2 weeks and ran fine but I had some signal issues - left signal was super weak, then the right signal would come on when flipping on the left, then both would light up sometimes, but then they worked as they should. Last evening while riding on the highway she started bucking slightly, thought maybe I was low on gas and was about to put the reserve on when I noticed that the bucking definitely happened when I'd signal a lane change.  Off the highway and at the first light she stalled, moved over and noticed that the light wasn't on, when I would turn the engine over with a kick start the light would come on and I could electric start again (weak legs, can't kick it too well. haha)  Stalled coming into my girls driveway, had to get to a grocery store a little after I arrived and she didn't stall and rode well.

This morning it was the same routine, light comes on, I flip to 'on' and the light goes off.  Have to turn the engine over with the kick and then i can electric start.  The light started weakening though when I was looking her over.  I changed the fuse just to be certain, checked the battery and it's perfect.  I'm thinking rectifier or regulator, bad news is that i don't have any tools here, at all.

Worst case, would it be a horrible idea to ride an hour tomorrow and get Marilyn into a garage?  I suppose I could get her into a garage in the area but there's zero motorcycle repair shops, or motorcycle shops of any kind around this area, closest is 30 minutes, i believe.

Thanks for any help, really appreciate it.

Jonny

If it runs long enough to get to a shop, it should not do any more damage to the electrical system. It sounds like a weak battery, or bad ground.
