Hi fellow motorcyle enthusiasts , Just thought I'd put some pix of the latest project up and comment on the wonderful help that I have received from a fellow forum contributor . Following my call for the whereabouts of a suitable rear fender for my k6, JOOLS1 has come to the rescue and a nice used one is currently winging its way down under,
I'm not sure of the protocol with Forums but my granma always said "If you can't say anything nice about someone ,Say nothing" so I'll only comment on the folks that have been good to deal with.
The bike ,although mostly all there ,was a bit of a wreck. Starting with the smokey engine the guys at Cyclexchange came through with rings ,valves and guides ,and the cheapest full gasket set Including seals anywhere. Matching the engine paint was a bit of a problem but VHT silver is not far off just dont use their raw aluminium ,It looks green!
Frame swing arm and trees have been blasted and powdercoated gloss black, and the bits worth rechroming have been done ,
A new pair of D.I.D rims from ebayer cb750man have been laced into polished hubs with stainless spokes from Russ Barrett in Queensland.
I wont mention names but the first pair of "stainless" cb750 rims that I got from ebay turned out to have the wrong spoke hole size and are not tripple cross pattern, He did offer some advice but they are definatelly not suitable for 750's .
Lots of little parts from guys like JT Marks and vintage cycleworks but if you are looking for some budget bits have a good look at the guys from Out West Motorcycles, Can't go past $9 for complete indicators and $12 for a taillight. Anyhoo i better put some pix on.
Postnote ; Cant seem to access image insertion,Will try again later
