77 cb750f needs clutch

firemanmark
Hey guys. I found a 77 cb7500f for sale, but it is missing the entire clutch assembly. I believe the basket is there, but nothing else. How hard are those parts going to be to find? Any leads would be appreciated.

They don't seem to be available new, and are different than the 750 k. Right? It looks like there are only 4 springs instead of 6.
I'm just trying to determine if the bike is worth the price.

They all only have four springs, and are the same between models. Other then the lifter plate, and the pressure plate, which can be obtained used, everything can be obtained new from several different sources.

How much are they asking and what else is missing or unusable? Titled? Runs? Tires? Rusty chain?

New clutch fibers runs about $45
New clutch springs run about $15
A used clutch assy off ebay can typically be had for about $50-75

You're looking at about $100-125 to sort out the clutch.

Thanks for the help. The bike is at a local shop, but it has been sitting in the back for about a year. The shop got it on trade and was going to get it running and sell it. They got sidetracked with customer bikes and other projects. They rebuilt the carbs and checked the points before they put it in the back. It was running then, but has not been started since. It definitely needs a chain and the left side panel. The front brakes feel soft through the lever. It has the headlight housing, but is missing the bezel and bulb. Other than that it is complete and in fairly good shape. very little rust, good paint. Tires are even Ok. it was last tagged in 2012. I am hoping I can get it for around $1000-1200. I may let him get it running, but it will probably cost me $1900-2000 then.

How did they have it running without the clutch? It would sling oil everywhere.

That's a good point. I only spoke with the shop mechanic for a few minutes. I may not know the whole story. The clutch cover is in place though.

I guess that answers that question. I would be asking why, and how they know the clutch is missing?
