'81 750K Carb Pucks

Ccheese4
So I'm currently completely disassembling and cleaning the carbs on my '81 750K and I'm having trouble getting the vacuum pucks out. I removed the screw that was in the middle, thinking that was all that was holding it in, but I'm still unable to remove it. Is there something I'm missing or is there a specific method to get it out?

Did you remove the black kidney-shaped plastic air jet cover?

i was under the impression that the air jet cover was beneath the vacuum puck, which is currently stuck in the carb (all 4 of them are stuck).

I'm able to wiggle it a little bit, but shouldn't it just slide out?

IIRC ,I had to remove the screws that hold the covers on.I think they are also a guide for the slides.Disassembly should be easy.

When you say vacuum pucks, are you talking about the slides?

yeah, I've heard them referred to as pucks before.

I finally got them out. Just had to let a bunch of carb cleaner soak in there. Varnish was coated all over the needles, holding them in.

Wow, those carbs must be in rough shape.  My 81k carbs slid out super easy and, and my carbs must be immaculate in comparison.
