Those look like theyll work! would it be a problem to use my dual disc setup with the swap?

Shouldn't. However it is uncharted territory, for me. I would just collect all the parts, and start fitting them together until it works.

Oh! "digging out the trees". When we talked earlier i thought you meant real trees! Like, out in the yard trees!Thats why i mentioned you had parts growing out of the ground.I thought you found an axle under some real trees! LOL I'm so dumb!

LOL. No I don't have parts growing out of the ground, but I do have some parts that have been around, so long they might be growing roots.

piute, I was curious of the inside distance of the fork tubes and the length of the axle on the front of the SOHC?

Okay Tools, here we go. The right side control's wiring all checks out to be good.BUT,there is a screw with a head snapped off and the other screw is pretty stuck. You can probably get it off ok but I'm pretty sure i broke my finger so im not having much luck with it one-handed.Thus why there is still handle bar sticking out.
On the left side control...well...hmm.Its a little rough. That IS the clutch mount that is whacked off-why you make me doubt myself?? The horn button works. The headlight swithch only works on low and the turn signal switch works fine.BUT-thers that "but" again-there are two wires broke off short and they are part of the turn signal wiring. So,theres the switch gear. Poor lil guys shoulda been brought inside
Slow....I forgot....again. I'm going up to the barn right now and measuring that.

Ok Slow. Finally! I got some measurements but wasnt sure how to word them so...I did this.If you need any explanations or more numbers just holler at me

Since Shiny's right side switches work I can let go of the DOHC switches. Do, you also want the triple tree, and wiring harness?

i picked up a wiring harness, but i could still use the switches and throttle sleeve and maybe still the trees. im determined to make shinys wheels fit my bike. ive never taken apart the front wheel, so im curious as how the axles mount in there? if im thinking right it shouldnt be a problem to just swap out axles...right?? again my thinking has got me in trouble before so thats why im on here lol
|
Administrator
|
Slow, the axle will just slip thru the wheel. Those clamps at the bottom of each fork legs are what secures the axle in place.Pop the clamps off and your whole front wheel will come off. There will be a nut on one side of the axle-it gives the clamps somewhere to hold-take that off and the axle will slide out.
