81 CB750K DOHC Project

Recently acquired my '81 CB750. Most of the work was done by PO but I plan to change some of it to make it mine!

So far has mini clocks, Honda Shadow tank and Harley tail. Seat was hand made with alloy plate but will be re-doing and also making a single seat so I can 'clip on' either if I have my pillion.

Next jobs, sort out seat as no proper mounts or fixing points (any tips much appreciated), polish rims and repaint star black on wheels, find a better air filter as DOHC doesn't like pods, add mini bullet indicators (turn signals), new mirrors, change rear light and a few other bits.

Done a bit more over the last few weeks. Stripped wheel rims ready for polishing, removed lights ready for new ones, sourced new seat pan ready for making brackets, fitted drag bars.

Lights are photoshop'd as haven't bought them yet, but they are the ones I'm going with.

That's a nice looking tail light, but I've always preferred round head lights. JMO, of course. The silver on the wheels really cleaned up the looks!

That side cover seems to be a huge eye-catching point that really stands out. I wonder if it could be "toned down" to blend in to the rest of the bike somehow.

Hmm...a simple pinstripe and some tank emblems could really make that black paint pop.

Definitely a cool and unique bike! I love the proportions on the tank, seat and tail. Fits the bike perfectly and looks like a super comfy riding position.

Love those emblems shinyribs, where did you find those?

I had a Bates on it originally but want to go with a wide low and mean stance, and think the wave headlight more suits the look I'm going for.

As for the side panels, I don't like them either much. Thinking of doing them in chequer plate, not quite so in your face.

I think the side plates are fine. It's just a huge spot of shiny on a dark bike.

I saw a CBR at a friends shop and loved those emblems. The burnished red looks modern and classic at the same time. The current year model CBR's use them, not sure what other years do as well. Probably eBay will have them.

What did you use for that rear fender? looks good and I'm assuming it replaces the plastic fender as well?

Hi, tail (rear fender) is from a Harley 'Fat Bob'. Plate welded underneath at the rear for mounting light and reg etc.
