Ha Ha... wasn't much new over there was there. I stopped over here to see what was going on.
I can relate to the insomnia comment, nice cure you found. It's supposed to be in the 50's here today but this much snow melting that fast makes my diveway a mud lane.   Maybe it will dry up enough for me to try your cure.

-  Shiney, I think cdaiscool set the bar way too high for me to even compete for the frozen nipple award but I think I may have won the "i know my limit award" instead so i'll settle for that ;) This summer i'll give you guys a run for the money on roadtrips.

- Piute, yes I remember your electrical setup, I have a similar box still attached to the bars with the 9 prong plug attached, I'm trying to decide on what light/signal combo to order before I tidy that up.

- Hoosier Daddy,  we are going to tie a temp record here tomorrow at +11C (just over 50 for you southeners) so It's a must to get out somewhere tomorrow, maybe even for a run up river just to say I did.   Will post a pic if i do but I've been knocked on my a#$ with this flu but I will give it a shot. I'm lying sideways with one eye open just tring to catch the end of playoff football.    Stay tuned..... EZ

Re: 81 cb750 custom "purple rain tear down"

Hey guys, over a month later and I never did get out for that ride.  I think I was mis-diagnosed with cabin fever when I was actually suffering from PMS- parked motorcycle syndrome (thanks for that motogrady).   Well anyhow, after a two day blizzard on the weekend it cleared up here today enough, that I could dig out the bike once more and get a bit of tinkering done before dark.  I have to head out again shortly to wrap it up again, 15-25 cm's of snow starting tonight.   Here is a photo of a seat pan and cover I was able to throw together, needs to be tapered down around the edges but I may get away without having to do much more with it.  I wanted to start fabbing up a mock cowl but just ran out of time.  I will dig out again friday LOL! cheers  EZ

I see your rear tire has a series of holes around the perimeter. Maybe you could screw in some studs and ride on thru the bad weather

Ah... good eye shiney-san,  I'm going to form the rear cowl around those 2 rusty bolt holes you see(similar to CAFETEX, hate to be a rip-off but thats a nice look. )  Taper it down into the rear tail light and remove the rear fender.  I'd like to buy a glass mat batt. and tuck it and some electrical up underneath the cowl.   we'll see

Here is a shot of my poor man's seat pan.  I don't have the fiberglass skills of Piute so this will have to do.

Well, the fender is gone.  Any thoughts or ideas before I start hackin on sheet metal?   I can't go much lower, because I'm fitting the stock tail light in the back, but maybe the edges can be rounded off/down.  All the anti cafe guys will look away or maybe till me it's not too late to turn around. lol.  Next up i'll temp. mount the tail light and rewire, I think the battery and alot of the electrical could fit in there after the plastic splash guard comes out.

Looks pretty cool. Now get some green florists foam, and a fiberglass kit, and make a seat pan.

My brother said if I used more cardboard parts on my bike it would go faster. So I went out and bought another cardboard box.   Three days off and the illusion of spring.  Maybe a start up and ride tomorrow.  (Maybe I should be spending my $ on tools instead)
