A light studder at mid throttle

rij1
Since I had my bike I noticed I have a studder while holding the throttle steady around 2500-4000Rpm's but if I am giving a heavier throttle through that range I don't notice it. I also have my exhaust get raspy sounding around 4,000rpm's.
I have cleaned my carbs very well and it still does it. I synced the carbs as well and its no better.
I just added a shim to each slide needle incase I wasn't getting enough fuel but it didn't help either(I did Get more power though).

Any ideas?

Check the carb vents. If the carbs are not breathing they will build up pressure in the float bowels and hiccup.

Ok, If I only knew where the vents are

Could I have missed something with them when I cleaned the carbs.

You can see a rubber tube about 5/8-3/4 of an inch long in between carbs 1&2 and carbs 3&4. Those are the tubes that connect the vents of each outer pair of carbs together. In the very middle of your complete rack of carbs the vents will have little 90 degree elbows made on to the carbs themselves. There should be a hose coming of each of these venting to atmosphere.

Hope this helps.

Ok, Thanks. I could have sworn I made sure every hole on every part was clear when I cleaned the carbs.

I hope this problem is a carb issue n nothing else.

If I open the carb bowl drain on each carb would I be able to tell if the vents are giving a problem or?

I drained each carb using the drain screws. Then I left open the 2 left drains open and turned the fuel on and the gas flowed out of the carb bowls quick and evenly. I did the same with the 2 right ones and they flowed the same. Does this help figure if the vent giving a problem?

Sometimes wind while moving will affect vents. Make sure your vent tubes are in dead air.
