A little problem

Dougie
So I'm pretty much finished my rebuild project. I recently installed my speedo and tach and everything seems to be functioning correctly. I've only been ripping it around town mostly and haven't exceeded over 60mph (100km) much until the other day when my buddy and I went for a little ride. It was about 20km one way and everything was working great. Bike sounded nice, lots of power, no bogs on the way out. On the way back however about 10km in the bike starts to bog down and I cant get back up to 60 so I have to pull over. It seems like the battery wasn't charging and it dies when I get to the shoulder. Luckily we brought some jumper cables and she starts up right away and I finish the rest of the trip.

Any ideas why besides some of the obvious reasons?

Thanks.

Start checking your wires and connectors. Make sure they are clean and making good contact. Check the charge going to the battery. Make sure the bike is revving over 2,000. If that doesn't fix it do a search on here for how to check your rectifiers regulators, etc.
It's only illegal if you get caught.

If at first you don't succeed, use more lighter fluid

You did not say what model/year the bike is, but I am going to guess it is a DOHC, and they have JUNK charging systems. Probably the rotor, or stator, or both.
