ANY GOOD CARB GUYS OUT THERE?

I am not familiar with forums so hope im in the right place. If not please direct me to the nearest door.  I have a 81 cb 650 with carb issues. long story short (ish) the right outside carb is flooding and ends up flooding the other 3 carbs. so far I have cleaned and rebuilt all three carbs, checked the float's for damage (none, and they are plastic with no adjustment). checked needle set for proper operation, which on the bench with the float bowl removed and lifting float by hand will shut fuel flow off but as soon as float bowl is put back on it floods up thru the emulsion tube and even somehow siphoning up into the slide diaphragm. So then I replaced that carb body with a new one from ebay and exact same thing is happening. all new jets, seals screws and cleaned in sonic tank.  I also have swapped out floats from the other carbs and still the same thing is happening. Again when you manually gently push the float up it stops the fuel.   Anybody ever had this happen?  Im fairly savy and have had two of my tech buddys look at it with all of us scratching our heads bald.  Am I missing something here??

How is it flooding over in to the other carbs? That's odd.

You've got new needles? Are they rubber tipped? Is the rubber deformed? I once order a set of needles and one of the tips was "bent"...I reckon it got something heavy sat on it at some point. You could probably force a deformed tip to seal by hand, but float pressure wouldn't be enough. Just a guess, really.

Since each carb is it's own entity, and has no way to interact with any other carb on the bike, there is no way that one carb is causing the other ones to flood. If you are having carb bowel overflow, it is a float, or needle/seat problem. If for some reason gas is going into the slide diaphragm, you might have a bad/mis-adjusted  intake valve.

The other carbs are getting fuel through flooded vacuum lines ect, When I say manually push the float its just till the needle stops and yes all new parts and rubber tip. Going to look at it some more today.  I think I will mention this as well, only because I think some of you will get a kick out of it.  When i first got the bike there was a tube running from the drain off the bottom of the bowl on the  inside right carb to the drain on the outside right carb.  I was like what kind of trickory is this??  Just chalked it up to shade tree mechanics and proceeded to take the carbs apart.  Then I also noticed the float needle was installed above the fingers on the float instead of slid in the grove of the float needle. Also there was an aluminium shim between the float and needle. Now I know whoever had worked on this before me was a damn genius (somewhat). He shut the flow of gas off from the float needle and fed it via tube running from drain of the  other carb which in turn is keeping it at or around proper float level. I however would like to get it running properly.  I keep coming back to float and float needle but every time I replace parts it does the same thing.

That was funny. T cannot imagine how much gas it would have to build up before it would start transferring from one carb to the others through the vent hoses. However I doubt it would transfer through the vacuum lines, since there is only one vacuum line on the bike. It is the one that goes from the #2 carb to the petcock. If the carbs are overflowing, it is a float, needle/seat problem. I have had carbs where I fought and fought a problem like this. If it is blowing gas/air out the carbs, you have a bad/mis-adjusted intake valve, or the cam timing is off.

Yes you are right. Its flooding through the vent not vacuum line.  I have run out of old parts to replace and have started replacing some of the new parts I previously replaced.  I am running out of options and am not going to be able to let this go easy.

I realise this thread is a few weeks old and you may have sorted it by now, but another cause of overflowing from the float bowls is that the thin metal overflow tube in the bottom of the float bowl is cracked/missing/loose in its seat. I don't see mention of the actual float bowls being replaced, so it's worth a look.

IT WAS THE VENT, OR LACK THERE OF. THEY WERE JUST HOOKED TOGETHER WITH NO WAY TO VENT CAUSING IT TO FLOOD..
