Adjusting my cam chain

Eljeef
Hello.  I am a new member who just discovered this site. I have a 1982 Honda Nighthawk CB750sc. I downloaded the manual (thank you for that) and I have a haynes manual. They don't seem to be specific to my bike when it comes to adjusting the cam chain and the chain between. The one says to start the bike and let it idle then loosen both cap nuts in the back of the cylinder head a half a turn. I only have one cap nut back there. In the front it says to back off the lock nut and then the other nut/bolt. That seems to be for the chain that runs in between. My question is this: Should I be looking for another cap nut in the back? It is a dohc so why is there only one? Hope you can guide me. My bike is getting noisy, particularly at 5000rpm. Thanks, Jeff Hebert.

Page 33 in the manual shows things. from the looks of it, the front has a bolt with a lock nut. The rear is just a bolt. That should be all there is to it. So if you adjusted those, you should be alright.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I figured it out. There are two cap nuts at the rear middle of the cylinder about five inches apart and above and below each other.  Start the bike and let it idle. Back the two cap nuts off by about a half to 3/4 turn. After they are both backed off then tighten them both. You are now done at the rear of the engine. Go around to the front and find the 10 mm bolt that goes through a 14 mm lock nut.  The ten mm bolt needs to be backed off about half a turn but first the 14 mm lock nut needs to be loosened. Loosen them both then tighten the 10 mm bolt. Next, tighten the lock nut. Et voila, you are finished. Hopefully you won't burn your knuckle like I did. Thank you.
