backfiring bad...

750 bobber
   Constantly backfiring at the carbs and the pipe i havnt had the bike long and dont know where to start. please help.  Its a cb750e with pods and aftermarket four into two pipes without baffels

Was the bike sitting when you got it?
At least the float bowls come off with a clip.


You need to tell me this.

What is the number on the carbs?
7a? 657A etc.,.
Then
idle jet size.
Main jet size.
Slide needle clip position counting from the top.
mixture screw turns from closed?

Make sure ignition and timing are correct.
Spark plugs are gapped and what color they are? black brown,white???

Great looking bike and great frame.
The backfiring from the carbs is probably from clogged
up idle jets from sitting around. Main jet is usually ok The hole is very large.
The gas gets gummy and dried up.
Remove the idle jets first clean them till you can see
daylight through them. DO NOT use a paper clip!!
You can use a #10 steel guitar string and carb cleaner compressed air.
Write down what size the jet is

Okay i looked everywhere for a number on the carbs and couldnt find one all i saw was writing that said kehin japan. i dont know how to disassemble the carbs but i can give her a try. unless you think thats a bad idea? heres a better description of what happened.  When i got the bike it ran fine early throttle bogged out mid and hauled ass if i hammered on it. the other day on my way home from work it started cracking and popping bad. backfiring out of the carbs and the pipes. Surrprised i made it back.
