An odd feeling...

BikerWitch
Okay. I have a concern. We put the front end back on my '76 K to get it off the lift so I could clean it some outside. We cleaned up and re-assembled the brake system, put fresh fluid in there and what not. So we noticed something funny when we hit the brakes. There is a kind of 'thunk' feel to it. Same thing if you hold the brake and push forward. We spent some time rocking like that to figure out where it was coming from and it is from the brake caliper. Is that just because the caliper is on a swing arm or do I have an issue I need to fix? Thanks!

Is the caliper tightened down? Does it move at all when you hit the brakes?
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

Do, you have it adjusted correctly? I adjust mine with a folded sheet of copy paper between the pad, and the rotor. I tighten it until I feel tension on the paper while pulling it out.

My '76 doesn't thunk.I'd say something is loose. It should all be good and tight.

Check the joint at the swing arm for the caliper.See if it has any slack. The only other place I can imagine slack being is if the rotor bolts were loose.

Hmmm... Okay, I'll check all that tomorrow when I'm over there. The caliper and the swing arm both were frozen when we started. Guess now we have the opposite problem... I'll get back to you on this. Thanks!
