Im wanting to purchase a set of gaiters for my 81 DOHC and wanted to see if anybody had any pictures of them installed and what brand they used? I know dimecity sells a set but the coils look to be too close together and I want to try to get a bigger "coil" on them. I dont want it to have that crushed accordion look to it, but a more uniform coil...I guess thats the proper explanation? Thanks!
I like this style, but the ones dimecity sells (bottom pic) are way too long, especially if I slide my forks up an inch +?

I know Vintage sells these, but they dont have any listed for DOHC's. I have no idea what the difference,if any, would be.

I tried to do some hunting with very little success, which is typical for me. Never found any DOHC gaitors yet,but some people call them dust boots. That term might help you search a little better.
Also,I am not sure, but it seems you need specific fork seals depending on whether you plan on running gaitors or not. Might wanna check into that. I know Piute just put fork seals and gaitors on his. He might know that answer.

Hey Slow ,
What I got was new seals 35mm ,& dust boots ,That I thought held the gattor in place on lower legs, They didn't work like that at all

I read that.Thats why I posted that as soon as I found out. If you are lucky maybe you can call and cancel the order in time. I've done it before and got lucky...more often I did not,but still worth a shot

I measured the tube diameters (upper and lower), went online looking for gators, and found a pair for around $16 + S/H -- around three years ago? I used black, Zip-Tie's to secure them in place, with the 'head' on the back side, to improve the appearance. Anyway, the DOHC bikes did not come with them; however, without them, bug shells will shatter on impact, sticking to the fork tubes... When the tubes compress from road impacts, the bug chiton shell bits, will cut small slices into the rubber fork seals, leading to leaks, and failure. With gators on the tubes, the seals will last twice as long, typically 20,000 miles, or more. The gators were removed to improve the looks, not the performance (they likely generated more income for the shops, as well...).
Newer bikes are sometimes equipped, factory, with shields (1/2-tubes, made of foam material, or solid plastic) that cover the front of the tubes, to prevent bug impacts from shortening the life of the seals. There are aftermarket shields made for Wings, and other touring bikes. I still need to put gators on my Voyager's tubes, to help stretch the life of the seals on its forks. Cheers!

I got mine at CB750 supply, part number 27-1089. They are 7 1/2" long out of the package and have the same 12 rib design as my original on my '74. They were $20 for the pair. Of course, they're not installed yet so we'll have to see if they work.

Wait, I thought Vintage was in Canada and 750 supply was in Florida? I may have read that wrong? All I know is that I ordered some parts from Vintage and it took a little over a week to get to me....but maybe the parts were on order or something?? I dont know haha

Vintage appeared to have shipped my package from New York, even though they're based in Canada. Of course, that was my brake caliper rebuild kit - may have come from the supplier or something.
