Anyone know what bike this is?

skrivan
Hello....can anyone identify the year and model of this bike?  I was told 1977 but i'm not sure.  the tank looks different than what i have seen elsewhere and with the 4 into 1 exhaust, i am not sure if it's K, A or F.  thanks

skrivin,
you should be able to decypher the serial number to get year and model. I'll see if I can find a link.

Forget those decoding sites. Our bikes made before 1981 have 11 digit SNs. after 1981 they went to 17 digit and the search engines are looking for 17 numbers.

Take your vin to a honda dealer and maybe they can figure it out.

here's something else I found

Serial Numbers___K Models
1972 K2 Began with CB750-2000001
'73 CB750-2200001
'74 CB750-2300001
'75 CB750-2500001
'76 CB750-2540001
'77 CB750-2700009
'78 CB750-2800001

After '78 they were all Dual Overhead Cam

'79 RC01-2000001
'80 RC01-2100005
.................................

Serial Numbers__CB750 F ( SuperSport )

'75 serial number began CB750F-1000002
'76 CB750F- 2000003
'77 CB750F-2100011
'78 CB750F-2200001
'79 RC04-2000023.( new Dual Overhead Cam model begins)
'80 RC04-2100003

.................................
Quick "at a glance" ID.

ALL F's had a tail fairing on the back of their seat

NO K's had that,,only a plain normale seat.
**Except for 1979

And as Big Jim Sez>>>
K's= 4 individual mufflers
F's = 1 Muffler aka "4-into-1"

If, you give me the serial number I can tell, you what it is. However it looks like a 77-78 K model. The exhaust is aftermarket.

Those are the correct sidecovers just wrong color. It is a 77, the seat on the 78 had a higher step to it for the pillon.

Honda did reuse the numbers, for the F models the following year. However they did try to put an F on them instead of the E,

Re: Anyone know what bike this is?

thanks for all the responses....one more question:

is the general concensus here that these bikes should be restored to original graphics or do a lot of guys repaint these to their own taste?  I'm going to definitely do something with this tank and the rest of the painted parts, just not sure which direction is the better choice.  I did find original decals for the tank, but i need the sidecover graphic plates....i guess getting a bobber tank is an optin too.

I myself would chop/bob a sandcast Unless it was pristine. Do what, you want with the bike. It seems to be good enough shape to restore, but it would be expensive. And it is not one of the rarer models.

Go wild! pain it any old color and graphics you want. You are however doing this for your own enjoyment. You won't get your money out of a retro mod or most restored CBs unless like ,Tools said you have some special model. If its professionally done either the mod version or the restored version right now I'd say you might get $2500 to $2700.
So, most of us don't do this for the Jarret Jackson auction, we do it to keep amused and out of the hair roots of our wives or significant others.

I don't care what your bike looks like, I do, however care that it is mechanically maintained to perfection. I have no time for idiots that break down on the side of the road for something they should have fixed or maintained along the way. I rode with a guy that had electrical tape around his cracked coil boots and cracked spark plug boots, the first little bit of rain and he was done. I told him I wouldn't ride with him until he got those fixed. he hasn't got em fixed.
