that might also be your 5/16 tap, i measured a little off. the 1cm is more like a 5/16.

it is the only thing i can find that is around that is a 5/16 tap.

Not the hole, I need the thickness of the tab welded to the frame. On the stock frames the tab/mount is around an inch wide, but on custom frames it could be anything.

Yes, that is the tab/mount I was referring to. So we have a ? thick tam with a 1/2" hole in it welded to the frame that the engine bolts to. I need to know how thick that tab is to figure out how long to make the top spacer. It looks like there is some sort of spacer placed there, does it come off?

everything like that welded to the frame is 1 1/16 (17/16th) inch.

that thing you see is useless, I just haven't taken it off. it used to hold the spark plug ignitor in a weird way that made it melt against the engine so i moved it and havent taken those off yet

I just wanted to make sure we have the measurement right before I cut some expensive steel too short. Here is a picture of me measuring that tab/motor mount on a stock frame. If you took your measurement like this, we are good to go.

I'm not sure, it has a honda stamp on it but i don't know if its actually a honda frame. It was made in the 70's and the dude i got it from didnt know.

I measured it long ways across, thats what you want right?

Perfect. That is the first time I have seen the mount done that way on a custom frame. It has occurred to me that you have not posted a picture of the whole bike, just pieces of it. How about a picture of the whole thing?

That is nice! I love those early engines with the pretty fins. I can't remember ever seeing a frame like that before. I have a very early diecast K-O engine that I am hoping to find an old chopper frame to put it into, and build something like you have there.

The frame has cool shapes in it, i really dig it. I've looked at thousands of pictures of vintage cb750 choppers and haven't found anything similar. The frame is stamped as a 75 interestingly enough.

I would like to get some pipes that aren't so low on there, just seems like I am not going to get away with a that for less than 400 or 500 bucks...also a 21 front and 18 back would help a lot I think.

Definitely have some good work to do to this thing!

I just need to make the spacers for the top mount bolts. Should have them ready to ship tomorrow afternoon. I was thinking about the tabs for the rods on the controls, and their placement. I think it would be better if I did not take a wild guess on their placement, and then you have to cut them off to move them, so I think it would be better if you mocked them up on the bike, then marked where they go, and have someone local weld them on. I will post some pictures this evening after it cools off, and I can go into the toolshed.
