Broken frame tube?

Jeroen
Hi,

This is my first post here. My old man has a cb 750 from 1979 I thik.

I would like to turn it into a bobber / rat bike. But there is this one thing that got my attention.

When you look at the front left side of the bike (right if you are on it) it seems to be that the left frame tube has been cut (it's a clean cut). On the right side there is no cut...

Left tube

Right tube

Does anyone of you know if this is normal?

I also noticed that if you turn into a corner, the bike fibrates. Could the frame cut be the cause or could it be the brakes that run into the brake discs?

That's the way the DOHC bikes are made. It makes it easier to remove the engine. You can un bolt that piece, and slide the engine right out.
