CB 750Kz Oil Filter query

I have taken the oil filter out this was followed by the spring then the washer is this right. Hayes manual shows washer then spring. When replacing the bolt is says o ring on the bolt will a washer do? as mine has not got either last time I put ptfe tape on. Do you check the oil level on a warm engine? Thanks for looking. Ian

Washer goes against the filter to protect it from the spring. On the bolt there should be a groove close to the head for the o-ring. A new o-ring comes with the filter. Fram CH6009.

Washer first, then spring. The washer rests on the filter, not the spring which will dig into it. Get a O-ring for the bolt or your oil will leak out all over the engine. You can get O-rings anywhere. If you have been riding the bike let it sit for a couple minutes before you check the oil in the tank. Put the bike on the center stand to get an accurate reading.

sorted now thanks. It runs better for checking the oil when warm, as for 4 yrs 4k i have checked it cold. It does sound bettter for having more oil in. Good job it a tough engine as i must have ran it low but the light never showed (it is working)  Thanks again.
