CB750 DOHC Con Rod Bolts

Hello everyone,
I'm rebuilding a CB750 DOHC and am having a lot of trouble finding a source for new con rod bolts. I have searched everywhere online, by name, by part number (13204-689-004). I have spoken to mechanics and dealers. Apparently they're not making them anymore. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, mechanics and dealers are terrible sources of info.

First site I checked, davidsilverspares.com has them if you search by the part number.

Go through the list of sites were have, most likely some others have them too.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Thanks. I have found quite a few sites that claim to have them, but when I actually put in the order, they end up discovering that they don't. Here's hoping that this one is different.

I am curious as to why you need new ones. The original con rod bolts are reusable. The only reason to change them would be for a really high performance application, and then I would be contacting ARP.

I would happily reuse the old ones, but my mechanic and my mechanics prof at the local community college have both told be that they're a one-use part because they stretch when properly torqued. Is that not the case as far as you know?

That is the case on some newer vehicles, but not on these bikes. Go on and reuse them. If you want a second opinion on this, call the guys at Cycle-X, or find an old bike mechanic.

BTW. Most reputable bike shops that work on these old bikes will not even talk to formally schooled mechanics when they come in asking about employment.

The one-use bolts are what's referred to as torque to yield fasteners. You actually stretch them to the point of almost failure, so definitely not reusable.

But these bikes just have good old fashioned bolts. Torque to factory specs and roll on. If you're really worried ( I usually am) use a dab of red loctite.

A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.~George Washington

Yeah, there is nothing new about these bikes really. Old tech was used, partly why they are still around and running as well as when first built. Hell, a person could get a good grade 8 bolt and nut and just go that way probably.
