CB750 question.

surfales
I just bought 1982 fixer-upper.  It's a CB750 something...how do I figure out what model it is?  It has a single disc brake in front and drum brake in the rear.  What are the different positions of the fuel shut-off valve (what position is on-off-reserve)? I tried starting the bike with a battery I have but it seems like my battery doesn't have the cranking power to  start the bike.  After a few cranks the battery sounds weak.  Is there any othere CB 750 forums with a "how-to" section?

Look at the serial number on the top of the engine and on the frame at the triple tree where the forks connect to the bikes frame. Then you can tell. I own a 1974 CB 750 K4. The first Honda 750 was known as the KO, the engine cases were sand castings and they are very rare and hard to find. That was the model years 69-70. The 71s were the K1, 72-K2 and so on. I'm pretty sure that once you have the serial numbers you can narrow it down on this site. On the petcock, down is on to the side is off up is res.
rmIs this your bike?

You have an 82 CB750K. It should say this on the neck label, on the bottom line. If your petcock is like my 80 750F, then it's like this: Petcock lever horizontal: fuel off. Petcock lever down: fuel on. Petcock lever up: fuel reserve. Good luck!

There is a site you can use to look up which model bike you have.  It is located at http://www.xtreemedecals.com/hondamodels/
