Not sure which shop you're talking about. I work at a large powersports store here, though.

Watched and subscribed. At 4:50 in, it was priceless However after watching it, I can see a few problems. First, if you are building a brat, cafe you must wear skinny jeans, and have a lumberjack beard. Pomp-adore is optional. And it does help to have a sixpack of ridiculously expensive beer that tastes like burnt coffee in the fridge.
I did notice that you mentioned you were in VA. You know there is an old hillbilly tale about this legendary CB 750 cafe motorcycle builder up in the mountains outside of Roanoke. He goes by the name of Shinyribs. They say on clear bright days in the middle of the night, you can hear him blasting up and down (sometimes at the same time) the mountain roads on his CB750 water buffalo.

Oh, Lord...

Sadly, that bike is gone and forever lost. And I don't think "legendary" is the right term. Infamous, possibly.

Hey bud, you don't happen to work at StarCity Powesports, do ya?

The shop Tools was talking about is now defunct.  I'm actually in Montvale, but I work in Roanoke almost every day. I have a few DOCH parts floating around here if you need some thing. Looks like a fresh cylinder head with no stuck spark plugs may be helpful to you.

Shinyribs,

I sure do! I've been there for a month and a half but just started on the parts counter recently! It's an awesome place to work! I replied to your comment on my video, but I might just take you up on that. Thank you so much for the offer! I'm excited to keep this project going and hopefully making one solid, custom bike!

Thank you all for the support!

I figured that might be the place. Not really much else around here.  I was in there right before closing today, looking for some proper tire spoons. Tell your parts manager that BikeMaster spoons shouldn't cost more than Motion Pro's.  Just giving you a hard time about the spoons, but I'm sure I'll run in to you at the counter at some point.

Ah man, I'm sorry I missed you! I had off today and actually got a lot done on the bike!! Should have a new video up by the weekend.

As far as the tire spoons go, I'll put in a good word with the boss man. Haha!!

Hahaha!!! Oh, everything is safe and sound and not damaged, so it's all good. I want people to laugh, as I sure do!!

So, a little update. I found a 1974 CB750 that is complete and has ran within the last year or so that I am planning to pick up for $350!! I also found a very tempting 1982 Yamaha 650 Maxim in running, good shape, with a current inspection, and only 6k miles, yes 6k miles, for $350!! I may just have to pick that up too! I'm dying to have something decent to at least ride while I wrench and customize other bikes!

Thoughts?

The 74 CB sounds like a good buy, but no one, and I mean no one wants a Maxim. I would think hard before spending money on one of those.

You don't think so, tools? I know that the Seca is much more desirable but it seems like the maxim has a really good reputation. I was thinking I could at least sell it for double, with only 6000 miles on it. They make really cool looking bobbers too.

They were not popular bikes when new, and are still not popular. A local bike shop here had on that looked like brand new, and they ended up practically giving it away. I would make sure I had a buyer for it before buying it.

Re: 1980 CB750K Build

Well, the Yamaha sold, so I'm actually glad.

As of now I have three cheap bikes that I plan to pick up. One is the other 1980 CB750 but it's a custom, the next is the 1974 CB750 that I'm pretty excited about, and the last one is a 1981 KZ750 (4 cylinder) with a total engine rebuild at a shop with papers to prove and a 2008 CBR front end for only $400!!

I am super excited, and I believe I have definitely found a true passion that I'd love to turn into a career one day with a lot of work! I cannot get enough of hunting for old, unwanted and unloved bikes to buy, restore and customize! I may have a problem, but... It's a good one, in my eyes! Haha!!

So, what would you guys like to see from me in the future with my current build and future builds on The Moto Barn!? I want to be entertaining and educational!
