Can't start cb750

surfish95747
Hey guys. I have a 1980 CB750K. I took it apart to clean the engine, rebuild the carbs, replace the starter motor and repaint the frame. Put it back together last November. It started up just fine and I got it to idle. It was a bit rough but not too bad. Well it sat for all of December and January. Now I go, pull it out of the garage and I turn on the key, and push the start button. Nothing happens. When in neutral, the starter solenoid that the positive battery cable and motor cable are screwed onto just buzzes and I can feel it vibrating.

I checked the battery and it has a full charge. Can anybody point me in the right direction of where to start looking for the problem? Thanks!

^^^ That's your problem. It shouldn't buzz or vibrate, it should give a nice, solid snap. Either the solenoid is faulty or you have low voltage coming to it causing it to not snap in properly.

Check if you have full voltage at the terminals in the harness. If so, I think you just need a solenoid.

So I took a volt meter, set the meter dial to the 20 on the V side and the battery measured 11.65 volts. It is a 12 volt battery. Would that little bit of difference cause the problem?

Nah, 11 volts is plenty enough to activate the solenoid. But the smaller gauge wires which is what comes from the starter button, do you have 11 or 12 volts on that wire when you touch the button?
