Carb Linkage sticking

Ericcb750
Hey guys, I wanted to see if anyone has run into the same issue. I have a 78 CB750k with the keyhole carbs. When I first pulled them off the bike to clean they would open an snap back closed perfectly using the linkage where the throttle push/pull cables attach. Now when I open more than half way it gets hung up and stuck? I'm confused because the actual slides are not catching and when I open the top of each carb and unscrew the arm holding the slides they move freely perfectly. Is it an issue with the return spring (large one) or does it need to be lubricated somehow?? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try removing the cables, and see if it still sticks.

Hey Tools thank you for the help. Sorry I forgot to mention that the cables are removed right now. My bad. I'm going to take them all apart later and take a look. Just wondering if there's something that needs to be greased ?? Thank you for your help.

Try loosening the bolts that hold the carbs to the mounting plate. They might be crooked, and binding.

What Tools said loosen all the bolts and screws that hold the front and back plate on. Don't take them out just loosen.  Then try with the screws loose.
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

Hey guys, thanks for your help. I took the entire set of carbs apart this weekend and cleaned. The slide was getting hung up in the #1 carb causing it to stick because there was some gunk up there. Cleaned and polished the slides as well as cleaned the inside of the carbs.....Works just like new now. Taking them all off the mounting plates helped to get everything apart and gone through correctly. Took a while but definitely worth it in the end. I appreciate your advice. Take it easy.
