Carb Rebuild Kits

SoonerRon
Will a carb rebuild kit listed for 80-82 CB750's work on a 1979 CB750? I thought these model years were all the same parts-wise, but the carb kit for the 79 is listed separately? What's the difference (if any)?

Were all 79's DOHC's?  I swear I read somewhere that some of the early ones were SOHC.  That would explain the difference in the carb rebuild kits.

That said, I could be pretty much just making this up.

I emailed the ebay seller and they state their kit is good for 80-82 but not 79. Go figure. they have the best price i've seen. The jets are the same #'s and the parts look the same but who knows.

There may have been some 1978 models which were sold in 1979, and could have been called "79" models.  But everything I've read says that the SOHC CB750 was last manufactured in 1978, and the DOHC replaced it in 1979.

Regarding the carburetor question, the big difference in the carbs had to do with jets and settings.  The VB series pretty much are interchangeable. For example, there are the VB42A, B and C. If I remember the Haynes manual correctly, the jets were different, as was the mixture settings and idle settings.

I can't say this is gospel.  Your best bet may be to go to a Honda dealer, and see if there's a different part number for the carbs in question.
