Carb rebuilding issue, help

Ghost-Flame
I bought Randakk's master carb rebuild kit and Mike Nixon's illustrated how to book. Removing the air cut of valve covers is next to impossible the way he explains it.

Mike says remove covers while the carbs are still attached. you can't fit any size off ste screw driver in there. Can I disassemble the carbs to get to those screws?

You can always disassemble things.  It's putting them back together that is the trick .

I believe you should be able to remove them without breaking the carb bank.

Deuces wild site write-up (in the pics, scroll down) says to loosen the screws with needle nose pliers.  I'm guessing that this is because the screws are inaccessible with any type of screwdriver.

NOTE: I haven't done this yet myself, but the pics make sense - as long as the screws aren't seized.  If they're really in there, then I guess you'll need to break the carb bank and use an impact screwdriver (the kind you hit with a hammer).

Can you take some pictures of what you're dealing with?

Here's the guide I followed, I printed a color copy and went to town.

seestheday and cdaiscool,
Thanks, These are so much better than the guide I'm using. Both have better discriptions and better pictures. My problem has been solved by these write ups. I saved the docs and printed them out.

Thanks again,Tom

My pleasure.

I collected a few resources and put them on this thread: http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/DOHC-carb-cleaning-procedure-td867809.html

There is also a good description on that thread on what to do to check the accelerator pump and how to fix it if you have problems.

Any time. Glad we were able to help.

I'm also glad I didn't buy the book when I got Randakk's kit. I was going to, decided not to.
